Hi
My iveco truck on a 52 plate has just died, the engine is still all ok but a funny burning smell while drive on the m/way coming from the back wheel, the whhel was then smoking and then seized, we towed it of the road but the wheel was seized , when you put it gear and take foot of the clutch the van does not move but the prop spins and the wheels don't, is it the diff and if so is a exspensive job?

thx

If the propshaft is turning and the wheels aren't it could be a broken halfshaft, but they normally go suddenly with a "bang" and wouldn't cause burning smell. Maybe the brakes or wheel bearing have seized, and by towing / driving it you may of snapped the halfshaft. (what model / size truck is it )

it is a 35s11 sinle wheel, someone has looked at it today and the wheel bearing seized and the half shaft has snapped but we cann ot get the bolts for the hub out, they have snapped where it has buckled under the heat, i need a used rear axle
