hi!
mi mams corsa c is making a real racket from the engine bay, sounds like a tin of marbles. had the alternator belt off just to make sure it wasnt the water pump or alternator itself, or even a pulley.
never done tappets before tho, are they a big job or fairly easy with the right tools?
Thanks

iv done a zillion timing chains on these dude, nip it 2 some 1 who,s had previous experience, he'll diagnose if its the timing chain without even lifting the bonnet- if its that- expect to pay £200. theres nothing you can do to prevent it other than use correct oil and keep it topped up.

kind regards

Hi tommydickfinger! just to let you know i fitted a new timing chain to that corsa at the weekend and the rattle has gone completly. was £104 for the chain kit and tools to fit it with.
Thanks for the advice pal!

Check the chain is getting a good oil supply and check the tensioner. The chains fail due to a faulty tensioner or lack of oil and it is very common for people to fit new chains on these only to find the problem returns. Frequent oil changes on this engine are a must.

i got a kit with the new chain, tensioner, guide rails, pins and bolts, even the crankshaft and camshaft positioning tools. fresh engine oil and a new filter fitted at same time. runs a treat! cheers mate!
