Cleaning Dirty Ceiling

I have a large artexed ceiling to paint, that is very dirty, mainly black dust, blown in from the tarmac crusher next door. I have vacuumed as much as I can. I know it should be sugar soaped and clean water washed but the area 9m x 4.5m is a bit daunting and arm aching.
Is there any other way of preparing it for a new coat of paint?

Use one of those squeezy foam mop things using sugar soap and let it dry before painting.

Used an extendable car wash brush, didn't need the souwester. Magic job, quick and easy, good results. Thanks for the suggestion,
