hi can anyone tell me about a rough price for fitting new piston rings, stem seals and head gasket.problem is cars smoking, sugesting one or the other. but might as well get them all done in the process.thanks

I would suggest a recon engine would be the best option.
Or one from a low milage scrapper, check ebay?

Valve stem seal replacement means stripping the top end of the engine, and piston ring replacement means stripping the bottom end. Doing both (and attending to anything else found at the time) virtually amounts to re-building the whole engine, so I would go with Wotan.

if it's got the wet liner engine, then don't even think about stripping it as they're a right pig.
ebay engine should be around £150, recon probably looking around £500 ish

thanks fellas looking at that route then(new engine).think me and my mate might attempt it ,doing the stem seals etc. hes pretty good with mechanics and done engines since he was born but no car mechanic.and im not so bad at it myself.so thanks for the replys wish me look.ill post back with the dissasters
