Please can somebody advise what is the minimum that i should put down. Was thinking of 9mm on top of normal floorboards. Is this sufficient or do i need 12mm.

If the floorboards are sound and level you can get away with 6mm wbp ply fixed with ring shank nails or divergent staples. Feather finish over joints and nail heads.
