Problems with new alarm sounder - help!

Hi all,

We've just replaced the existing bell box outside with a new one, and rewired exactly as it was - but for some reason the alarm won't stop going off....

UNLESS I short out the red and black wires going to the bell box, but then the alarm doesn't seem to arm properly.

Anyone got any ideas what this might be?

Is the tamper switch closing when you fit the lid? This can sometimes be a problem on uneven wall surfaces.

Did you remove mains and batteries from the panel before you sttarted this work? If not, you may have shorted the wiring out and blown one of the fuses in the alarm panel.
