this boiler is 3 years old,recently whilst running the hot water for a period of tme,for instance running a bath,the water goes cold and the reset button on the control panel flashes.just prior to tripping out the water goes to scalding temperature.this problem only seems to occur when the c/heating is also on(12 rads with trv's set midway).would appreciate any suggestions before calling an engineer ,thanks

didnt mention,this is a complete new system with a scalemaster fitted and treated with sentinel x300 and sentinel x 100 at time of installation

Is it the 28i Junior condensing boiler? At the bottom of the panel, (below and to the left) of the reset botton is there a blue light?
If it has locked out, the blue light will be flashing. In the back of the instructions it will have a chart to give an indication of the fault by identifying if the light is flashing fast/slow etc.
From what you are saying, you could be looking at a thermister or oh stat?
