Zanussi ZJ1217 Washing Machine : Start/Pause button flashing

My daughter has a ZJ1217 front loader. It has worked well for five years but just stopped mid cycle with the Start/Pause button flashing. Have cleaned out the filter, released door and drained out, turned on/off a few times,but the condition remains.

Looked inside and had time to check one of the motor brushes. This looked fine. Inside was very clean, no black marks, burning smells or leaks. Any idea what the Start/Pause button flashing means or how to perform a deeper diagnosis. Thanks for any help with this. John

The search for the problem has continued. A replacement door lock did not solve the problem. What seems to be unusual with this machine is that it has two pumps, an outlet pump which is working fine, but hidden at the back of the machine is a circulating pump which drives the Zanussi Jet System. This pump looks sizzled !

Will report back on progress. If there is anyone out there who can throw some light on Zanussi fault codes I would be grateful. There is no display as such, but guess that pressing the right combination of buttons activates a certain combination of LED flashes. If there is a RESET combination this would be useful in case the control board has locked itself up ?
