Hotpoint Aquarius wont spin

Hi - I've had a fantastic WM61 for the past 8 years. Its only needed new brushes since day 1. Recently the spin or agitate wasn't working so I changed the brushes. It seems ok for 30mins and then stopped spinning again. The motor turns smoothly etc and the rest of the cycle eg fill drain is fine? Any

Did you remember to bend out the tiny brass tags on the new brushes when they were in place? If not, the carbons will be kept retained inside the holders. If they are genuine Hotpoint brushes there will be a diagram on the packet showing how to do this.
