hi I do know better than to play around with boilers but I would like some idea of what the problem could be so i have a rough idea of what the bill is likely to be!

The boiler is only a few years old, it heats up the radiators fine but even though it sparks up, and stays lit when i turn on the tap, the water temp is very low indeed.

hopefully it just needs a faily inexpensive part.. any ideas?

the only model name i have is sime 80c format, written on the front.

thanks in advance for any feedback you may be able to provide.

Could be a number of things.

1. Turn Ch off and allow it to cool down. Run Hw and check the ch flow pipe approx 1 meter from boiler. If it gets hot the diverter is passing.

2. what happens if you slow the tap down?

3. Does the boiler cycle on and off?

Much further then these tests is going in to RGI territory

I would expect the Format is actually several years old!

It sounds like a blocked plate heat exchanger. Fairly common on Sime boilers because, being cheaper to buy, they were usually installed cheaply without power flushing.

We charge £136 in our local area to remove and clean and then service the boiler.
