I have recently quit my job on the cards and am joining a new company which want me to sort P.L and registration with governing body etc...

I have been clicking around reguarding the insurance and have had a few quotes around the £120 to £150 a year mark. Including £2500 tools cover.

Now to me this seems extremely low! Or is this a fair rate??

yeh 2 million. I've since asked some self employed mates and they say theirs is around the £90 mark with 5 mil cover and 3 phase.

I renewed mine today.

Roxborough and Trade Direct do special packages for sparks. Basic for 2mil PLI is about £165 including tool cover.

If you are doing PIRs and certification then most registration bodies insist that you also have professional indemnity cover for that (£250k) and that adds a wedge.
I took out personal accident cover too - pays out if you are laid up for more than 2 weeks - worth considering.

You can do an online form with Trade Direct. With Roxborough you have to talk to a real person.
