Hi all,
I am doing a self build and have done the electrics my self. I am not an electrician but have read up on bits.

what type of cable should be used for wiring mains smoke alarms.

also should an isolater switch be added for a toilet extractor fan

the wiring for my cooker would be sufficient in 6mm but should I use 10mm

I would be greatfull for any advise.

They should be wired off one local lighting circuit using 1.0mm2 6242y cable for the supply in to the first smoke alarm and interconnected using 1.0mm2 6243y cable.

Yes.

Need more information ,size of cooker? ,distance from cu?

trouble is you generally have more than one lighting cuircuit

and if you have smokes on more than one cuircuit you have interlinking issues

so most now put smokes on a dedicated cuircuit

yes the toilet should have an isolator.

its best to use 10mm for all new cooker cuircuits imo unless you want to end up ripping it out laters.

Mmmm. I'm not convinced you've read enough to have taken responsibility for the design and installation of an entire wiring system.

What do you plan to do about testing?
