Can anybody help a damsel in distress. I have just found my washing machine with the wash enhance button (Top button on left) and the on/off button flashing. I stopped and started it. It tries to do a drain then short spin and the lights come back on. Any easy solution that I can look at rather than more expenses - just had to have a new bolier and currently have 2 brocken arms!!!!

So in this instance with the second light flashing the error code would be f04 light 2. pressure sw stuck on empty

hey afjannie

Probably too late but my one has packed up as well! it seems to be a common fault round about 3/4yr old ones. When i checked underneath the washing machine the large motor was black - it must be burned out - the only explaination i can find as everything else has been triple checked, cleaned etc.

dont know how much they are but seem easy enough to fit

Its rare for the motors to burn out but they will get very black with the carbon dust from the motor brushes, (most motors I have seen that have been damaged is because the carbon brushes were allowed to wear down to far and the copper braid has been rubbing on the commutator and arcing.

Hi

I have not sorted it out yet. I have the number of a guy who does repairs. My son had a quick look - the motor looked fine. It is only 3/5 years old - last hotpoint I buy. It only gets used twice a week so its not even had a hard time.
Thanks for the info

Hotpoint went downhill when Indesit bought them up (also own Creda and Ariston amongst others)
