Hi
I was wondering if someone could please advise me how to stop the ignition on one of the gas burners on our Neff gas cooker from sparking after the burner is operating and also after it has been turned off.

re the Neff problem...the hob top is held by the 4 knobs which pull off, then 8 small phillips screws, 2 by each burner...underneath the knobs you will find a plastic slider which has a spring...is the spring OK? does the slider slide! a little WD40 might make things go a little better, maybe stretch the spring a little and make sure that the 4 rubber seals where the knobs go thru the top are fitted correctly and don't foul the slider...good luck

That fixed it for me. We had been putting up with that problem for years and stopping the igniter by flicking another knob. In fact it only worked properly for a few months after new.

I used some 3 in 1 oil on the plastic slider and it slid much easier allowing the spring to bring the slider back and the switch off. It is not a good design because the reactive force of the switch tends to make the slider bend up at the switch end and causes the track to bind. My guess is that is will need re-lubricating again in a while. A stronger spring might be another solution.
