Can anyone help me, newbie to forum I have recently changed the bathroom basin taps and since then I have appeared to to have developed what they tell me is water hammer, but this also occurs when the tap is open and water is flowing, not just on turning tap off, if I turn bath tap on I can stop the banging but just the basin tap has to be right open to stop it. This only occurs on the hot tap. I have no clue on what to do next. For info I have a combi boiler hot water system

Water hammer can be a funny thing. Maybe the new taps have a slightly different flow rate which is causing it, or maybe the stop cock is now in a slightly different position. Try turning it down or up slightly. You might find you have to fit a pressure reducing valve or a mini expansion vessel.

Thanks for the reply, Tried that, slight improvement but still there.
Am told that as the "banging" occurs when water is actually flowing it could be a jumping washer ? before I do that is there anything else I can try .

Hi, sorry for the late reply i've been on holiday.

Yea a washer could be the cause, in a ball valve in a header tank, or a toilet maybe.
