ceiling pot lights to 1-way dimmer switch

trying to install three 50w mini hallogen lights to a 1 way dimmer switch. Unfortunately I can only get the lights to stay on, they won't dim or turn off what have I done wrong?

depends what you have done, you dont say if you have installed them from new or just changed them or just installed a dimmer, you dont alos say what voltage they are.

assuming they are 12v the transformer(s) sound like they are not dimable

Or it's a push on/off dimmer with an undimmed output for a fan and he's used the wrong terminal?

Or the load was the wrong type or size, and the dimmer is now b*ggered?

Could be any number of reasons - more info is needed.

Also note that he's in Canada........
