Hi there,
We have had a new door fitted which is ready to varnish but in the short time we have had it fitted finger prints and small water marks have appeared as workmen work around it. What is the best way to remove these marks ? Sandpaper or something else.
Thanks
Scott

If the damage done is only superfical a light sanding should suffice, take care to go with the direction of the grain and never against it.

Whatever you do don't use wire/steel wool on oak, as oak is high in tannin which reacts with ferrous metals and leaves black marks.
