I wish to plant some trees up against my fence in my back garden.

How high are they allowed to be? And grow to?

Is it the height when planted as they will grow(I know I am clever)?

Max height is when somebody gets sufficiently annoyed to complain about lack of light, leaf nuisance, danger to property or person, etc etc.

Only person who *might* give you sensible advice based on your specifics is the local council. They'll have a tree protection officer who may answer your questions based on his knowledge of the area.

Drop him an email.

I was left with the legacy from previous occupier of property, about fifty conifers, these were planted too close to the boundary fences, and resulted in several complaints from neighbours, think carefully about planting trees, and the impact they can have on others.
