I have just bought a new ceiling fan which has, in addition to the normal wiring, an orange wire?????? what do I do with this?????? any advice greatly apprecialted.

Does it not say in the instructions that came with the fan??
My educated guess would be that it is the fan's live feed.
i.e.
Blue = Neutral
Brown = Live feed for light
Orange = Live feed for fan
Green/Yellow = Earth

Thought the Brown would be the live feed.... I'm confused as this is a fourth wire....I have connected the others as normal but have no idea where to wire this fourth orange wire...instructions are as clear as mud....
You need to be clearer about what you have got.
ie. fan or fan/light? If it is just a fan it may be another live for a different speed setting?? Can you tell us the make and model or post the instructions on here?

All sorted... orange was power supply for the light...Tnx ....
