I am relatively new to plastering so this is something I am unsure of.

I have a 3/4 bag of board finish that was left over after my daughters room was plastered a few months ago.
I was going to use it to plaster the ceiling in our utility room but I am not sure if the plaster will still be ok.

will it still be ok or will I need a new bag?

any one who uses out of date plaster has to take a chance, is it worth it for the price of 1 bag? but it may be ok the worst thing that will happen is it will flash set or go off really quick on you, do a little test knock some up and see what happens
if it seems ok use it

this is why I wanted to ask before I used it.
I have always been lucky enough to use fresh bags of plaster and I don't usually have much left over, so using bags of open plaster isn't something I have never had to deal with.

thanks for the advice.

Bag open for a couple of months, skip it; it’ll probably go off on you as you mix it. For the sake of a fiver or less it’s not worth the hassle; Multi will give you more time on that ceiling anyway.

Chuck out the old,
And replace it with new,
The unanimous decision,
From us here, to you.

For the sake of a fiver,
Or a few pennies less,
It'll be well worth the bother,
And could save you a mess.

I like it, though it is turning into poets' corner!

Mind, I think the last line needs a bit of work - doesn't quite scan right for me.
How about 'and to fix your disaster' ? ;)
