We've got a conservatory which is half fully brciked and then the other half is bottom half brick top half windows. It has a polycarbonate "lean to" roof which a 10o (approx) pitch. It has lead on the house wall over the polycarbonate. The roof is pretty flat with two small raised coverings where the poly sheets meet, they are supported by 2 beams. the size is approx 2.8mlong x 3.2mwide,

Wife wants ME to cover the roof with felt.

I thought that perhaps I Could use rolls to length ways across the roof, they could be overlapped with the top length going under the leading. I can fasten them down at each end of the roof by removing the plastic coving and screwing into the existing "batons" and then replacing the coving. I can also fasten it at the bottom OK.

I'm not sure how to fasten it on the overlaps as I believe strong winds could get under and start lifting/ripping it, is there some sort of cold gluing agent I could use.

Any help appreciated and feel free to blow my plans out of the water. :D

errr thanks?

She hates the noise when it rains!

Are there any other options without major structural changes? We're on a tight budget btw, maybe a couple of hundred if it was to make a big difference. On top of that we have a fitted set of units on the bricked up side of the room so can't just empty it for work to be done.

Actually looking at the wickes stuff I see that its used with underlay and the total cost will probably be over 200 as it is, not sure how to lay it at the polycarbonate won't take my weight, I'll keep thinking about it myself!

If all you want to do is diffuse the noise of rain you could try getting some fine polyester mesh/netting. I have some over my pond to stop the herons eating the fish. You could stretch this over top to lower the noise.

I'm being told not to use adhesive by "the boss", I am to fasten it at both ends and "glue" the overlaps, off to find some glue it is!

LOL - I suspect that the holes in the mesh will allow rain through! It will keep the herons out of the conservatory though

Yes of coarse it will let the rain through, but it will not be as noisy if its taught enough. I don't think they are trying to fix a leak but maybe I am misunderstanding.

woof woof - speeeeewwwwwww

It's going to a long time coming this one I think.

Actually by sheer coinsidence I noticed our neighbours a couple of doors down have some sort of felting on their glass conservative roof (or at least it looks like it is), I'm going to go round and ask them what it is and ask for a look inside. I've just replaced a broken fence panel and would never have noticed otherwise as next door has an extension I can't normally see past.

Let me get this straight, you advise using a net, something with lots of holes in it, to stop the rain hitting the roof!

EDIT - Just seen ^Woody^s post! Sorry lol, made me chuckle though.

Look if your not going to take me seriously then I am of to the dragon,s den with this idea
