I have bought a couple of link-lights to fit to the undersides of our kitchen cabinets (my wife wasn't too impressed by my connecting the existing kitchen light to the extension light by a three way circuit; she thinks its now too bright!!!)

As our kitchen is currently a work in progress and awaiting the plasterer, what is the best way to wire them up. I have a 'spare' switch box next to the existing intermediate light switch (from previous owner, god knows why).

Is it better to wire the lights into the lighting circuit, and control them from this 'new' switch, or is connection to a fused connection unit wired into the ring main best?

thanks

It's nice to have all your lighting switched from one place and, although both of your suggestions are okay, I prefer to have all lighting on lighting circuits.

I would get a double switch and have one controlling the ceiling light and the other controlling the under-cupboard lighting all powered from the kitchen lighting circuit.

thanks for that. is it possible to get a 2 gang switch as an intermediate, as the existing single switch is an intermediate on a 3 way?
