when boiler operating central heating only - no problems but when hot water is demanded for shower, bath etc the safety temp limiter trips out (thats the green button on the rhs under the control panel).Engineer has checked gas pressure but we still have the problem. Gas injector has also been cleaned. Any ideas?

It sounds as though the primary filter is blocked... if it's fitted!!(early models never had the filter) If you have the manual it explains how to get at it. If there is no filter. Then, I'm afraid it's almost certainly the water/water heat exchanger partially blocked. One of the most feared jobs's that a Worcester engineer has to do. My first one took about four hours. I'm getting quite good now...I did 3 last week!!

Thanks for this, I am going to check the filter now. In my description above, i should have been a bit clearer just in case this changes your thoughts on the problem. When you turn on the hot water when the central heating is on then it does work for a period and then trips out. If the central heating is on on its own then it will work ok. It seems to be a problem when both are on. It seems to be a bit intermittent

Hi
Those symptons are definately signs that the primary filter or w/w exchanger is partially blocked. When you call for hot water the gas rate increases and if there is a partial blockage in the primary system then the temperature will increase rapidly in the gas/ water heat exchanger and go in to overheat.
