I have a hot tap that has become very discoloured over the past year or so. The store I bought them from said there was a 10 year warranty. The pictures show the hot tap and the cold tap on the basin. should I try and claim a new one ?

Either that or someone is keeping a flannel on the tap when not in use

what products have you been using for bathroom cleaning and scale removing?

do you you a cloth, sponge, or something else to clean the taps and basin?

I notice the cold tap looks much better, does it get less scale?

We have no problems with hard water at all. Hence no scale buildup!
We never use any abrasive substances on any of our taps and fittings, Only soap and water.

I have only seen that sort of plating failure where it has been excessively cleaned, or very old and cleaned for many years, so if that is not the case, I suppose we have to say the quality of plating was poor.

Well I got my taps replaced under warranty.
I was told that it was hot water causing the problem!!

... and the word on the top says ..... 'Hot'

Now there's an original excuse! Glad to hear they exchanged ok.

Nice one ! - there is still good service to be had . I was a bit harsh about Chinese plating - can`t be worse than a Well Known Japanese motorcycle used to be in the 70`s ;)
