Radiator thermostatic valves

All my radiators are fitted with Satchwell Thermostatic valves. When the central heating is on all radiators except one are hot. This one radiator remains cold even with the valve at its highest setting. The pipe leading into the bottom of the valve becomes hot but the output side remains cold. I've tried tapping the valve with a hammer and repeatedly turning the setting from high to low;but nothing seems to work! Does anybody have any 'trick of the trade' I can try before I have to pay a plumber to fix it?

try giving the valve a tsp with a hammer as the jumper may be stuck

Corgiman: I've tried tapping it with a hammer. Its not making any difference!

Depending on the type you've got,

Normally a small allen screw or circlip spring type or hand grip crome screw type etc.........

have you checked to make sure the value at the other side is open. unscrew the cap and turn it anti clockwise until is is fully open then turn it back 1/2 a turn.
