washer part is fine but heat for dryer cuts out - It trips a little heat sensor which can be reset but only last a few minutes when it is reset!....anybody any ideas what could make it think its overheating (the sensor is fine)

If the sensor is fine then it's overheating. Common problems are fan motor not running, fan come off motor spindle or condenser/heater blocked.

Unplug your appliance before working on it.

DId you find out what was wrong and how to fix it? I'm having the same problem with Hoover WDM130
