noisy rads/pipes

Hey,
once the rads are heated to the temp setting there is a ticking / hammering sound coming from the pipes up stairs, this starts fast then dies out, this happens every time the boiler lites.. you can here it traveling though the main pipe then loud when reaches the rads/pipes up stairs... like they are expanding or contacting everytime it lites..

That`s what they`re doing..and if they`ve not got any felt pads under.or the notches are tight in the joists, they`ll stay doing it.

Just hope you`ve not got chipboard flooring

ohh err mine do that and ive got chipboard flooring wots the problem with that?

It just means that instead of taking up a couple of floorboards you will have to take up large pieces of chipboard.
