Noisy boiler

Please can some one tell me what is wrong.
I have a ideal classic RS40 boiler and i have been having loads of banging noises coming from it when its heating up. the hot water run's cold in the shower after about 5mins of being in there. I have so many peopl tell me thing about it that i 'm not sure what to replace!! the tank in the airing cupboard is a flowmax 140ltrs and have also been told that that is on its way out too!! please help me :cry: :confused: :?: :!:
