I have fitted new bath mixer taps and have replaced fibre washers. When i replaced washers i noticed i asnt replacing so much as adding as there were no washers in to replace. My problem is the cold tap pipe is leaking just a little over the join. It is a little drop oozing through about every couple of hours. If i wipe the join it takes several hours before anything appears. Is there any other way anyone can think to stop this?

since checking the old taps more thoroughly i have discovered that the people who installed them has apparently put foam around them and this has broken down so it could be that there was a leak all along. I moved in here 7 years ago and the people who "refurbished" the flat before i moved in were cowboys so i would not at all be surprised if this problem has been ongoing.

First just try tightening 1/8 of a turn - just one flat.

If you can get the nut down a bit, wrap a couple of layers of PTFE tape over the washer and everything (having pulled it out of the tap). This works.

I took it apart and added the tape and put it back together and it worked, thank you :D
