I have just replaced the sink in our en-suite and have replaced the brass bottle trap for a chrome one. The previous brass waste pipe goes into the wall and to make it easier I want to join the chrome 32mm pipe to that (behind the concealer and recessed into the wall a bit). I thought I could just use a 32mm connector and some solvent weld but the chrome pipe is a bit loose in the fitting. Is this normal and do you just make up the gap with solvent?
Cheers

solvent is not a sealant, its a solvent

solvent melts two plastic surfaces together so you should and cannot use it on metal pipes as it won't weld them

Try sourcing a compression joint to do it!

Thanks mate, thought as much, bloody novices eh?

I was being over cautious, I cut the plaster back and found a push fit socket. Pulled out the brass pipe and chrome pipe fits in there nice and snug

Cheers all,

Glen

With that luck I advise you buy some lottery tickets!
