In July I went on a month’s vacation. Shortly after my return, my plumbing became sluggish and eventually stopped. I called a plumber, who tried to snake through toilet openings, but could only get the snake to come out another toilet opening opposite in another bathroom. He then went to a cleanout plug in another part of the house and was able to snake the drain open so that there was a good flow everywhere.
Sometime later we noticed a hammering in the wall between the two baths when about a pint of water was run in a sink and then the faucet turned off. The hammering didn’t start until a few seconds after the water faucet was turned off. If more water than a pint was run the hammering never happened. It doesn’t happen in the shower or with the toilet. The drains show no sign of being plugged.
