we need to replace the over flow on the sink because our diswasher will not drain. this was recommended by an appliance service place who came out and quoted $200. we figure we could at least try to replace it for less. Any suggestions or websites to help guide us? thanks

You'll have to be a bit more specific; Are you refering to the waste pipe from the kitchen sink that goes through the wall, into a gulley, soil stack, or main drain??, if so. you can buy a specifically designed stand pipe and trap (u-bend) to accomodate the washer, but this will be independent from the sink, you'll need to go through the wall with another section of waste pipe and connect up to what ever services you have externally,(this in the U.k. WOULD NORMALLY BE A SURFACE OR BACK INLET GULLEY) Failing that, Buy a trap(u-bend) with a washing machine spigot already attached,Cut of blocked end of spigot with hacksaw, fit washer hose over spigot, secure with universal pipe clip, when your'e washer is discharging, it may pull the seal out of your sink trap,(u-bend) and cause gurgling noises, nothing much to worry about, but if you are overly concerned, by the u-bend with an anti-syphon fitted.
Hope this helps
