Bosch dishwasher - no water

The dishwasher, which has been working fine for the past two years, has stopped taking in water, or at least only takes in a very small amount (it was the shower last week that was giving trouble, just my luck!).

I've checked the electrically operated inlet valve - when I turn on a cleaning cycle, I can just manage to blow past the valve. Not sure how this compares with water pressure - does it sound normal?

Any ideas on other reasons for the lack of water? The water supply makes it to the machine and there are no kinks in the pipe.

Thanks!

Thanks for the response.

It sounds like I need to fully strip down the machine to find where this blockage is? What I can't understand is how something has become blocked when the filters are in place and there is no sign of any foreign objects.

Cheers

After some more tinkering tonight, I appear to have solved the problem.

There is a 'float valve' on the side of the washing machine which regulates the level of water in the machine, through the use of a micro-switch. This had become caked in cack (mouldy black residue, presumably from years of use), and wasn't moving freely, effectivle telling the water valve the macine was full, so keeping it shut.

Or at least I think that was the problem because it's working again! :D

Thats part of the blockage. The pipework from that unit you cleared to the dishwasher bowl will likely need cleaning too.
