the regs here have been recently updated so that cable must be protected from the corrosive effects of concrete or plaster,is the grey pvc covering on twin and earth protection enough for this or do we now need plastic conduit for vertical or horizontal runs |

I wasnt aware that PVC was affected by concrete or plaster. Polystyrene, I know, does leech into PVC cable over not many years (watch out if you've cables in wall cavities and its been filled with little balls btw).
If it does then i expect that they want you to cap it so there's no touch onto the PVC. Do you have a link to any site (Ireland or elsewhere) that details the effect?
Thanks |

there is an amendment to the regs implemented september 2005.
Embedded wiring must also be protected e.g. by conduit against harmful substances present in plaster or concrete - see 522.5.3.I dont know if the outer cover of twin and earth is protection enough. |
