Dyeing laminate
Reply with quote Thanks

Hi. I am getting a retail premises done up that already has laminate flooring laid by the previous owner, however it is the wrong colour. Does anyone know if I can use a dye over the laminate - and what will be the process to do this? Or will I just have to cut my losses and lay new flooring?
Thanks

heeelllooo keelinover and welcome icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

if its the cheap stuff this is only chipboard or mdf with a paper printed desighn with a plastic coating so no not realy [in my opinion icon_wink.gif ]

if its more expensive stuff with real wood veneer usualy around 12mm thick you have a chance to remove the finnish and re colour

but as the veneer is so thin your unlikly to remove all the finnish before you remove the veneer
and if you dont get all the finnish off youll get patchy results

having said that if you can disolve rather than sand the finnish you may be ok

but nothing in my opinion will work on the photo printed cheap stuff

good luck
