soil pipe issue

Hello,
I want to know if it is allowd to cut through a floor joist to run a loo waste pipe accross the joist and then run along its lenghth. Will building regs allow this?

Its a new bathroom going in an upstairs bedroom which is on an extension to an old building.

only a small percentage of a floor joist can be removed for say 15-22mm pipe runs, even then they have to be fairly local to the supporting wall.

if you're thinking of removing more than a third of the joist depth then don't bother.
