Cables for Smoke Alarms

Can anyone advise on wireing smoke alarms,i have been told by building reg officer i need mains alarms fitting througout(after the building work has done)Is there alot of work involved,or can you get wire free one's that talk to each other now?Any ideas would be appreciated.Maerwood

they are easy too install, not heard of diy radio smoke detectors, seen pro use ones thogh, but you also need the panel

but those are mains powered, the ones i have seen are battery powered, complete with sounder.

It was novel because when you turn the alsrm off they stop in rder of closeness to the main panel
