Remove skirts first?

When laying ceramic floor tiles is it best to remove skirts first?Then replace them on top?

seriously i should becasue it can cover any slight imperfections in the wall being out of true
 
I had the same problem, it was going to be a major exercise to remove all the skirts first and replace them afterwards. I achieved the same results by laying the tiles as close to the skirts as possible and then covering the edge with some quarter-round timber (and painting to match the skirts). The final result looked very good.

I removed the skirting and tiled down to floor level.Really neat job plus there's no place for dust/dirt to gather now.
