Check you've actually got gas from the meter, if it's a quantum pre payment meter there might be a problem with it. If it's got CALL HELP on the display or it might even have nothing on the LCD screen if the battery has gone, then you wont get any gas.

yes it is a quantum, there is gas coming in to the fire down stairs and the lcd on meter says on in the bottom left hand corner so dont think problem is at that end

its the c/h light flashes once every second, press the reset button seems like its gonna fire up with clicking ignition sound and c/h light stays on constant untill cuts out and back to flashing! seems like theres no gas to ignite

have reset the thing about 20 times but to no avail

you really need an engineer to test the gas valve , control board and associated wiring and connections and resistance

Try taking off the front cover & unscrew the control panel & drop it down, then check the ignition leads are not arcing when it's trying to ignite, I've had a similar fault like this before, failing that it looks like it's time to get an engineer out as it may be the gas valve or PCB.

thanx for all your info looks like a gas engineer it is! but will have to be after chrismas now i think, cheers
