I am at my wits end..have a biasi 24s Combi, heating seems ok but no hot water, if heating is on and turn on the tap it goes out...
Sometimes (not often) if you put on water whilst heating is running you get hot water, but it never works on demand. A bit short of the readies right now, so got in a gorgi man friend of a friend, he checked diaphrams cleaned everything etc etc....Decided it was either the chw thermister (temp control), the microswitch, or the main PCB...So I replaced the cheaper elements without success, and had to resort to getting a new PCB that I installed, I am in exactly the same place as before...
The man then suggested it could be the dhw heat exchanger, this was removed and flushed and although showing signs of wear the flow seemed to be equal through any port so a major blockage would not seem to be the problem. I would have thought a corgi guy could have at least told me what is wrong !! Now I am down the path of spending so much I need to resolve this...Help competent corgi people

All CORGI stands for is a memeber of the gas registration scheme. To join one has to posess qualifications in gas. Because the combi burns gas CORGI reg. is req. This does not make that person a combi specialist. What you need is a combi literate person that is CORGI reg. and preferably familiar with your make. Your money is more at risk when seeking another solution.

Gorgi is no different to any other trade qualification, there are still good and bad tradesman....Perhaps a biasi specialist would have more of an insight..But I work in a pub and the general view is that your are more likely to get ripped off with gas/boilers than any other trade..That may be harsh but its the general view..

Everyone's entitled to that view. Being as you're the one, taking that advice who's done their money on unnecessary parts whilst still being sat with no hot water, perhaps the lot down the pub can offer their next words of wisdom.

The information on fixing didnt come from the pub !! it came from a Gorgi installer working in the industry..The view from the pub which by the way are members of the public all with boilers and boiler stories, is merely a reaction based on popular opinion. I didnt ask them how to fix just would they reccomend someone who could....result no reccomendations

I would suggest that whilst a pub would be a good place to look for drunks it is the last place to look for any professional !

The obvious thing you should have done in the beginning was to have called Biasi on 0121 506 1340 and ask for the contact details of their local service agent.

That would have been much cheaper as you have apparently spent about £96 on a new main PCB which was not needed.

The Biasi 24S is a very simple basic combi boiler and anyone seriously involved with repairing boilers for a living should be fully able to repair them.

If the boiler is not responding to a demand for DHW then the diverter or demand switch is clearly faulty.

Well at least a little more helpful...I didn't ring biasi but I did look in yellow pages etc etc, I couldn't see a listing for biasi specialists so figured that anyone who could reccomend a repairer they had used would be the next best thing. That would be normal for most trades better someone reccomended than a stranger Cant see why that logic should not be the case for Boiler tradesman... Your are right you do get the odd drunk in the pub, but also solicitors, builders, brick layers, an architect, electricians, plasterers etc etc, perhaps boiler tradesman have to swear an oath of abstinence and therefore you would never find them having a drink in a pub !!

I agree that a person recommended by their customers is the next best thing.

As has already been pointed out not all boiler people can repair boilers, some only install, and those that do repairs often major on certain makes.

You need someone who rather specialises in Italian made boilers like Ariston. Biasi, Feroli, Vokera, Potterton and Baxi. They are all rather similar.

However the best of all for you is the manufacturer's service agent as they go to a lot of their particular make and carry all the spare parts so they can do a quick repair on a single visit.
