Cavity wall boxes

I'm going to be placing a few sockets on a wall that has been dot'n'dabbed. The distance from the face of the plasterboard and the original wall will be around 25mm (12.5mm cavity for cables/pipework then 12.5mm plasterboard).

However all the cavity boxes I've seen are 35mm deep, meaning I'll have to channel out 10mm into the original wall so they fit flush with the new plasterboard wall. Is it possible to get 25mm cavity boxes as this would do the trick for me.

I had a quick look around and couldn't find any but that doesn't mean they aren't available - I'm sure someone will know where you can get them.

Alternatively, you could just use 25mm metal back-boxes screwed to the original wall...

25mm metal boxes will do, just be careful if you intend to use nil profile sockets such as flat metal finish ones.

Sockets with no profile tend to require deeper back boxes, chrome chelsea range from TLC is a classic example. They have a deeper profile behind the face and are a PITA to mount with 25mm boxes.

If you have a SDS drill and chisel bit, I'd chase in to the existing wall and give yourself the comfort of a deeper b/box, a plastic dry lining one and the optimum amount of flexibility,
