Bath Waste

Does anyone know the minimum recommended space to allow under a bath for the waste to allow the water to drain freely? Im installing a bath over a concrete slab and am trying not to dig out the concrete...but also dont want to raise the bath too far off the ground.

You can buy shallow bath traps for this kind of thing. Only way to know for sure is to offer the bath into position and measure the distance, or do a test installation to make sure it fits before commiting yourself.

What are the symptoms of the problem that you're trying to solve?

Consider the position of the waste connection to the soil pipe, or through the wall.
Can you maintain a fall of 1 in 40 from the trap to the outlet?
Once installed, will you have room to dismantle the trap if you need to clean it out?

Thanks heaps for your help Robster_1981 & TicklyT. I've taken your advice and got a shallow trap from the local hrdware store and installed the bath while avoiding digging up the slab!

Softus...the reason I "would want to do that" is that I figured not digging up a concrete slab was a little easier than digging it up!! Also, you say "What if that's the right thing to do? Why would you not want to do the right thing?"

Well, ever considered that there is more than 1 right thing to do??? I.e. options.
