Hi, i have a gloworm 40ff boiler. I switched off the central heating a few days ago, but with the 'hot water only' programmed, the radiators are still getting hot even with the thermostat turned right down.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks mate,
I'll have a look when i get home tonight, do you know if they are servicable, or is it easier to replace the unit. Also is it a specialist job or one i can do myself

Need to check if it is just head that is faulty or body. Straightforward job if you are comfortable with basic electrics and plumbing/draining down.

The MPV was new and fitted by British Gas about 18 months ago, i need to find the receipt Re: warranty.
How do i check if it's the head or the body failing?

By taking it apart - and invalidating any warranty.

Not sure it is still under warranty till i find the receipt (if i can find the receipt), hence the question, how do i know which part is faulty

I found the receipt for the mid position valve, and wouldn't you know it, it's 6 months out of date!
I'm thinking of replace the the head, the existing one seems to be a British Gas model as there is no manufacturers name on it, just these codes:
MID POSITION ACTUATOR CODE: BGMVSP-23
BRITISH GAS NPC CODE 555312
Does anyone know where i can get a compatable head from?

Usually bg valves are Drayton. try your local Plumb center as they have a contract to stock bg valves in some branches. Only difference a bg valve is is the colour

If the whole valve was replaced 18 months ago then I think it is fairly safe to assume it is the head.

I know this is an old thread, but I have this problem too.

BUT > My questions is this, would it be cheaper to leave on the hot water all night and have warm rads. If so, is there any problem with having this fault?, does it damage the system, if I don't fix the valve?

Thanks

Eilz
