Can you please explain the difference between single pole and double pole sockets. I need to add an extra one in the bedroom and i'm not sure which one to use.

Thanks :?:

The term refers to whether the switch just acts on the live supply in the socket (single pole), or the live and neutral (double pole).

Either will do, and you don't have to worry about what you already have. DP ones are slightly safer, but more importantly they tend to be the better quality ones (SP means cost-cutting, so often goes hand-in-hand with C&N).

But I suppose I should raise the flag of caution - I'm not saying you can't do this job, but if you don't even know what something as basic as those terms mean, do you know enough to add another socket? Where is it going in relation to the existing ones? Are you adding it into the ring, or as a spur?
