Air lock

When closing off the hot water supply at the tank and draining down I find I get airlocks which take a lot of effort to get rid of. Anyone aware of simple method of curing or better still, avoiding this or is this \\\"the norm\\\".

When re-opening the valve, open just enough for the water to run, this allows the air to move to the top. At the same time have the bath tap open this helps the air to escape. Once the water starts to come from the bath tap open valve fully and close bath tap.

This does'nt always work fully but it sure does help.
