I have a tap/shower mixer tap. The previous owner has snapped off the lever that switches the water between the shower and the tap, so I need plyers to move the stub of the lever up and down to do the switching. Replacing the whole tap/shower mixer tap is hard work as access to the underside of the taps is difficult.

Can I replace just the lever part on the unit ? If so, is this part universal, or would I need one specific to my tap/shower mixer tap manufacturer ?

depends on make, but i doubt if you can get just a lever (unless you buy identicle tap) and take lever from this, then how long beore this breaks?

Just to clarify, this is the type of tap I have:

And the 'lever' is the thing you pull up or push down to switch the water between the shower or the mixer tap.

Let me know if anyone out there can help....
