I replaced my old switch with a new one only because the previous owner had painted the switch to match the walls. I was meticulous with hooking up the new switch like the old one but when I flipped the breaker back on it did not work. I thought I might have gotten a bad switch so I put the old one back on and it didn't\\\' work. The breaker is okay because the other lights it controls work. What went wrong? |

Not too familiar with US switches, but is there a chance you've got the wires in the wrong terminals?
Do US light switches have a neutral connection, or are they all hot?
