I have a Bosch Dishwasher which is about 5 years old and never let me down ... till now!
When it starts its cycle it pumps the water out before it has a chance to fill up. I suspected a dirty sensor, but cannot find one!
I have tried filling the machine with a hose and it works fine until it reaches the part of the cycle where the water is drained. When it goes to re-fill it does the same thing, empties before it has a chance to fill.
If anyone could help this would be much appreciated. The model is a built in appliance 5600002314. |

Hi, did you ever solve the issue over not filling up? I have exactly the same issue with my Bosch SGV4313. Shaun |

I would suspect water in the base operating float safety switch, tip the machine backwards with towels at the ready and see if any water comes out. |

assuhors, thanks for the tip tip! What will happen when the machine is tipped.... If water comes out will that mean that when the machine is righted again the float safety switch will 're-set' itself or will this have to be done manually?
To further my diagnosis....my machine will not fill at the start of a cycle. It appears to initally check (a pump is heard to turn) this then shuts off and a low pitch pump noise is then heard... I think it is maybe a circulation type pump that is trying to pump the water in the machine round but of course there is no water to pump round.... What I have tried also is initially filling the machine manually with a watering can. The cycle then proceeds as it should I hear the water getting thrown around, it warms up, it drains and then I think starts to refill but I don't think with enough water as it goes back to the low pump noise level (I can see this on the side plastic chamber) with new water for a rinse, it drains again and then indicates after a while that the cycle is complete. So my laymans prognosis is that something is malfunctioning at the initial stage and not opening the inlet valve, I am puzzled though as the mid cycle emptying and refilling works! Any suggestions

I think the float switch will stop the machine, nothing will happen till its its reset. (this would be done by tipping the machine back & emptying the float chamber).
As you say the machine is making a noise, then my guess (going by Hotpoint) is that the pump is trying to drain the machine, this is the start of the cycle. Your pump may be jammed, thats why you can hear the hum |

Would this little gismo have any influence (http://www.4bosch.co.uk/cgi-bin/product.pl?PID=878639&query=bosch%20SGV4313GB%2f17&model=SGV4313GB%2f17&path=128593). This item sits under the fill and drain pipes on the side of the machine. It is a solonoid that pulls a float switch in and out..........if it is not pulling the float I guess water cannot get in? |
