I am trying to replace an ordinary 1g 1 way light switch with a dimmer switch. The overall depth of the dimmer switch will not fit into my flush wall box. Does anyone know of a manufacturer/supplier of a "spacer" that can increase the depth of my box without me having to hack half a wall away. I am replacing plastic with brass finish switches |

Drill the back out of a surface box, and drill the lugs through and thread with a 3.5mm2 threader, use long machine screws to fix it to the original backbox.
IMO brass on PVC boxes looks terrible, i'd just chase the wall out. |
