PVC door

marsaday

I have just bought a house where the back door was forced open and the window smashed.

I can repair the window and wondered if the door is still ok as it opens and closes ok.

The only problem is that at the top left hand corner, where it is framed out for the glass, there is a split along the join. This is only on the inside of the door.

Can i fix this split ?

Best bet would be to ring a local UPV supplier/repairer and either take it to them or have them look at it I guess.

I dont dont know if they can be re-welded, you would be able to do something, but how successfull it would be I dont know.

Open the door pull the weld apart a bit and pump some sealant or grip fill in there, get a 90 degree angle from screwfix clamp the door and fix the bracket in the door in the rebate

ok sounds good. Could i use std silicone or dose it need to be an adhesive ?

Silicone will only fill the gap, Use stelmax it will fill it and bond it together and when dry will look more like pvc.

I would still look at getting a PVC 'specialist' to look at welding it, unless your happy with a big metal L over the corner. Or if you dont want to pay for it to be done, would be looking at some solvent weld to put in there and clamp it up tight while it bonds.

You will not see the bracket it will be in the rebate and the glass will cover it

In my house that = a new door.
A repair will never get it back to full strength.
